CO2 Bike Canisters on Planes: Emirates says ok
Thanks to Chris H for sending me the following heads-up via email:
Emirates wrote to advise Chris that they would allow him to take a maximum of 2 x CO2 canisters inside his bike case. Chris says there is plenty of discussion on bike blogs about whether it's ok to take these on planes, but Emirates it seems are ok with this.
I did write in the Guide to Cycling Through France that you ought not risk it, as I had been advised by Malaysian that these were not allowed as they are an explosion risk.
If your airline doesn't get back to you with an explicit confirmation, then you can take them, and if questions, dump them in a bin at the airport, or else, just err on the side of caution and buy some overseas.
Thanks to Chris H for the heads up. If you have a great tip for getting your gear to France, or for planning your trip to France, drop me a line and it may well get published.
