Scicon Elan Saddle Bag Review
I love simple things. And this Scicon Elan Saddle Bag Review shows a saddle bag that's as simple as it gets.
Life is busy enough without unnecessary distractions or complications. (Exceptions of course include an overly complex tractor for the farm.)
And it does not get much simpler than this Scicon Elan 210 Saddle Bag.
I prefer not to have a saddle bag at all as it interferes with the pro look of your bike. (That's obnoxious I know, but at least I'm honest).
However, I live in a rural area so rather than carry spares in a faux bidon in a cage, I have to carry a lot of water which necessitates a saddle bag.
Anyway, there's not much to this bag: quality zip, quality construction so I'll leave the photos to do the talking.
It'll fit a tube, levers, couple of CO2 canisters and valve, patch kit but not much else.
About the only gripe I have is the velcro strap. You need to make sure you don't overpack your Scicon Elan. If you do, you may not have enough overlap in the velcro straps and thus not enough strength. I had mine fall off on a [speed redacted because Kate reads these reviews!] km/h descent. Since removing excess accessories from the saddlebag, it's been fine.
Mind you, last weekend I drove 4 hours for a weekend getaway with the bike on the roof and the saddlebag didn't come off, so make of that what you will.
If you need a new saddle bag, the Scicon Elan Saddle Bag is worth a look.
Bottom line? The Scicon Elan is a highly reliable, simple saddle bag that'll suit most needs.

Thanks Tim! On the basis of this I bought one and it fits the bill nicely.
Just fits 1 tube, 1 cylinder, 1 nozzle, and 1 pair of tyre levers. All in a small neat package.
My only comment is that this (the one you reviewed and that I bought) is the 210 model, not to be confused with any of the many other Scicon models. I got the “white” carbonium one – looks great!
Hi Matt, good point. Have updated.

I had one of these on my commuting bike and quite liked it, but got to work one day and it was gone. Must have fallen off somewhere. There is only one small bit of velcro holding it to the saddle, so it that lets go, goodbye bag. It would be better with a clip together fastener or more / stronger velcro.
Hi Sunny, that was my experience too, at 90km/h down my local. Stop, ride back up to get it.
